Velaphi “VtheVowel” Ramphele is an artist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist born and bred in Johannesburg, South Africa. Velaphi boasts extensive experience in the music industry having produced his first record in 2005. He has since earned SAMA nominations for his production work with a diverse array of artists including Mi Casa, Kabelo Mabalane, Th&do, and Blayze. His music has also been synced in the popular South African MTV television series “Shuga”, as well as in various commercials for brands such as McDonald’s, DStv, and Vodacom.

Velaphi has recently ventured into a solo career, releasing his own music as “VtheVowel” since 2023. His distinct sound, loosely categorised as indie alt-soul, is steadily gaining recognition in the South African music industry, signalling a new chapter in his creative journey.
